Know your 2009 pilots: The CW knows drama. Comedy, not so much.
By Rick Porter April 22The CW has already picked up six of its shows for next season, which means that just about half of its 13-hour weekly schedule is filled. Of course, given the train wreck that’s been Sunday nights this season and the fact that “America’s Next Top Model” and “90210″ still run weekly encores, the young network still has a lot of work to do.
Since The CW only has six pilots in consideration, the final installment of Know Your Pilots will just take a look at all of them, from another ’90s remake to a spinoff set in the ’80s.
“Vampire Diaries”
What it is: The story of a young woman caught between two vampire brothers (Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder), one good and one evil.
Why we’re interested: Former wunderkind Kevin Williamson (“Scream,” “Dawson’s Creek”) is one of the creators, and we can see Wesley and Somerhalder as brothers (and vampires).

Caught! Grabby Gyllenspoon and More Hit Coachella
Hanging in Palm Springs was… Ian Somerhalder, sitting at a booth full of beautiful babes at the Ace Hotel’s diner. The former Lost cutie was dressed in skinny jeans and a T, but the only accessories he needed were his piercing blue eyes. Our swooning source assumed Ian’s female fandom made him “surprisingly not gay.” Yeah, ’cause gay men never hang out with a bunch of women.

Ashley Greene & Ian Somerhalder Couple Up
Wed, 15 April 2009Twilight star Ashley Greene took her new boyfriend, actor Ian Somerhalder, to support her fellow castmate Jackson Rathbone and his band, 100 Monkeys, when they played at the Vancouver, British Columbia, club Backstage Lounge on Tuesday (April 14).
“Ashley was there with Ian, who appears to be her new boyfriend,” a witness tells Life & Style. “The two seemed really happy and kissed throughout the show!”
Ashley, 22, plays vampire clairvoyant Alice Cullen in the Twilight franchise. Ian, 30, will play moody vampire Damon on the CW pilot Vampire Diaries. Dating vampires — love it!!!
